A lot of musicians find that it is really hard to capture the energy of a song in the studio. So do we. The artificial surrounding, the lack of audience, all the microphones, headphones and cables running everywhere. So we decided to bite the bullet and record a live album in front of our fans and friends at one of Brisbane's best sounding venues, The Globe. We think it worked pretty well. Enjoy!
Featuring 3 previously unrecorded songs, the album captures Peter B & The Homeless Souls at their peak, at one of their most energetic shows ever. The concert also features a hammond organ and piano accordion on top of our vocals-guitar-keys-bass-drums line up.
This one is for our friends. And this is what our friends said about the night we recorded Live @ The Globe:
"Peter B has one of the best soul voices on the Brisbane scene. With gentle authenticity he wrestles with issues of justice and peace, love and community and invites us to make that kind of music with our lives"
Aaron Nebauer (Vivid Music)
"Someone said to me on the night, 'This guy is the best soul singer in town'. Great songs, classy players, and high energy vocal delivery from Peter B."
David Fittell (Radiola, Gabriel Sounds)
"The Peter B & The Homeless Souls sound. Honest true soul. Powerful songs that stand up on their own without gimmicks. Clear and unfettered soul-man vocals augmented by velvet rhodes piano flourishes, a deep roots-based rhythm section and occasional melodic accordion. Just honest and sincere songwriting."
Andrew Chen (Dru & The Intentions)
'It was late. I was tired. But when Peter B and the Homeless Souls let loose they lit up the night with their brilliant vitality and luminous musicality. The Souls have got what it takes to perform on the world stage. And the brilliant Peter B is a star who can brighten even the darkest moments of our lives."
Dave Andrews (Plan Be, Compassionate Community Work, Christi-Anarchy, Not Religion But Love, Songs In The Key Of Be)
We'd love to know what you think, too!
We want nothing than for people to enjoy these recordings, so please pass on to anyone who might like them. If they can support us financially by downloading more music through Bandcamp, even better! Otherwise just spread the word by telling people to check us out.

Lesson is a true wordsmith who draws from his Greek roots, Aboriginal studies & time living in far north community, and critique of popular Australian culture to create confronting works. Brilliant. Peter B & The Homeless Souls
I think he sounds like Damien Rice. But I don't really listen to Damien Rice. I prefer Alan Boyle. Mainly because he lives in Australia, but also because he is an awesome dad. And an awesome man. Peter B & The Homeless Souls
